A fiber lab report has a row of numbers, and each one tells you something about the fleece. Here is what they mean in plain words, so you can read them in AlpacaKeep.
The key numbers
Reading them together
Two numbers do most of the work: AFD for how fine the fleece is, and SD or CV% for how even it is. A low AFD with a low CV is a fine, consistent fleece.
Tip. When you upload the lab PDF, AlpacaKeep fills these in for you. See Add a fiber lab report.
This article is about reading the numbers in the app. For how these numbers turn into fleece grades and what they mean for breeding and selling, see the fiber-grades guide.
