The first thing you do after signing up is create your farm. You give it a name and a herd prefix, and AlpacaKeep sets up everything else for you.
Steps
- Sign up with your email and a password, or with your Google account. Then follow the welcome screen to set up your farm.
- Enter your farm name. This is the name you and your team will see across the app.
- Enter your herd prefix. This is a short code that goes on the animals you breed and in your sale-page web addresses. Keep it short. You can change it later in Settings → Farm profile.
- Finish. AlpacaKeep creates your farm and your free plan, and drops you on the Dashboard.

What happens next
You start on the Free plan, which fits up to 10 animals and 2 people. Your farm is empty to begin with, so the Dashboard shows a friendly welcome until you add your first animals.
Good to know. You only need to do this once. One person owns the farm. Later you can invite your team and give each person a role. See Invite your team.
Tip. Not sure what to put as your herd prefix? It is just a short label, and you can change it any time. The full explanation is in What a herd prefix is.
