An animal's status (active, for sale, sold, and more)

What each animal status means, and why you change it with lifecycle actions instead of editing a dropdown.

Questo articolo è disponibile solo in inglese per ora. Stiamo traducendo il Centro assistenza - le altre lingue arriveranno a breve.

Every animal has one status that tells you where it is in its life with your farm. A new animal starts as Active, and its status changes as you take actions on it.

The status values

StatusWhat it means
ActiveA normal animal in your herd. This is the starting point.
For saleListed for sale. Set when you list the animal.
ReservedHeld for a buyer, not yet sold.
SoldThe sale is done.
DeceasedThe animal has died and a death record was kept.
TransferredMoved out to another owner.
On loanAway on loan or agistment, but still yours.

How status changes

You do not set status from a dropdown on the Add animal form. It starts as Active on its own, then changes when you use the matching action from the animal's lifecycle menu on its profile:

  • List for sale moves it to For sale.
  • Mark reserved moves it to Reserved.
  • Mark sold moves it to Sold (and records a sale in Finance).
  • Mark deceased moves it to Deceased (and keeps a death record).
  • Record a move or loan moves it to Transferred or On loan.

Good to know. Doing it through these actions means the right side effects happen for you, like clearing the paddock when an animal is sold or hiding a deceased animal from public view. Most of these can be undone if you make a mistake.

  • Record an animal's death
  • Origin: bred here or acquired?
  • Inside an animal's profile: the six tabs
