1. Legal status - microenterprise exemption
The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882, transposed in Italy via Legislative Decree 27 May 2022 No. 82) became enforceable on 28 June 2025. Service-provider microenterprises - fewer than 10 employees and annual turnover or balance sheet not exceeding €2 million - are exempt from the Act's service obligations under Article 4(5). Alpacakeep clearly qualifies. We therefore have no legal obligation to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA technical requirements under the Act.
2. Best-effort commitment
We treat accessibility as a baseline expectation rather than a feature. Our self-imposed targets:
- Keyboard-only navigation for every interactive surface - no mouse-only flows.
- Visible focus indicators on every focusable element.
- Semantic HTML (headings, lists, labels, landmarks) before custom widgets.
- Colour contrast at WCAG 2.1 AA - 4.5:1 body text, 3:1 large text and UI controls.
- Form fields with explicit labels; errors announced to assistive tech.
- Descriptive alt text on informative images; null alt on decorative ones.
- No reliance on colour alone to convey state.
3. Known gaps
Alpacakeep is in private beta. Known accessibility gaps as of the date above:
- Some marketing-page decorative imagery still ships without explicit null alt - screen readers may announce filenames.
- Long tabular data (financial entries, breeding records) does not yet expose row/column relationships to assistive tech as cleanly as it could.
- We have not yet completed a full WCAG 2.1 AA audit; a formal review is planned before public launch.
4. Reporting an accessibility issue
If you encounter a barrier on Alpacakeep, please tell us. Email accessibility@alpacakeep.com with: the page or screen where you encountered the issue, what you were trying to do, your assistive technology if any (screen reader, voice control, switch device, etc.), and what happened. We aim to acknowledge within seven calendar days and follow up with a substantive response within thirty calendar days.
