We build AlpacaKeep, so read this the way you would read any maker's comparison. Every fact below comes from each vendor's own website, checked on August 25, 2026. Where a vendor does not publish something, we write "not stated" instead of guessing, and we tell you where the others beat us.

The tools, one by one
AlpacaKeep
The newest tool on this list, and ours. A web app built on a working alpaca farm in Val Gardena: health records with withdrawal tracking, breeding and pedigree with an inbreeding check, fibre lab history, herd register exports, a sale page for every animal and a widget that puts your listings on your own site, in English, Italian and German on EU servers. Free up to 10 animals, spreadsheet import included, with public sign-up still to come.
Epsilon Alpaca Manager
The long-serving desktop program from New Zealand, strong on registry formats (AAI, ARI, IAR, BAS, NAS) and trusted by breeders for decades. It runs on one Windows PC and needs Microsoft Access; the vendor notes the newest Apple machines cannot run it, and your records live in a local file you back up yourself. Thinking of moving? AlpacaEASE / HerdEASE
Sold since 2003 and still maintained, with finances, invoicing and a medical library built in. It is a desktop install with a one-time price plus a yearly support fee, for Windows and Mac, though the vendor notes it will not work on macOS 27 or later.
Alpacas on the Go
An Australian cloud tool with a simple yearly price and nothing to install. It covers the basics; the public changelog on its site stops in 2018, so ask how actively it is developed before you commit.
FarmKeep
A polished general livestock app for web, iPhone and Android, with a page for alpacas and llamas. Health, breeding, fibre and finance tracking are all there. It is built for every species rather than for camelids specifically, which is exactly right for a mixed farm and less deep for a breeding program.
BreederHQ
A breeder-focused platform covering pedigrees, breeding workflow and marketing, currently invitation-only with no published prices. Worth watching; hard to evaluate until it opens its doors.
Alpaka Manager
An Austrian web app with one flat price and everything unlimited, in German, English and Italian, on EU servers. Simple, honest, and run by a breeder; lighter on medication withdrawal tracking.
ALPAKA.PRO
The broadest German product: a web app plus an iPhone app, breeding suggestions, pasture planning, and even online booking for alpaca walks. Alpaca Guild
A UK platform that combines a community herd registry, management tools, a marketplace and a breeder directory. The first month is free; prices beyond that are not published on the site.
HerdMaster
One of the oldest names in alpaca software was retired after more than 25 years; its website now only says goodbye. If your herd's records are stranded in it: we import spreadsheets and exports from old programs, and the first move is free.
Where AlpacaKeep is honestly weaker
We are the newest product on this page. There is no native phone app to install from a store (the web app works well on a phone, but some people want the icon and offline use). Public sign-up is not open yet, so today you join the early-access list instead of clicking Buy. If you need ten years of production history or a desktop file that works with no internet, the older tools above have us beat.
