1. What Alpacakeep does - and does not - do
Alpacakeep displays your sale listing to anyone with the URL. We host the page; we are not the broker, escrow, or any party to the transaction. The buyer contacts you directly via the email you publish, and the sale itself happens entirely outside Alpacakeep.
We do not verify any claim made on a listing - health records, registry papers, fibre histograms, EPDs, parentage, photos, or prices. Our role is to provide the infrastructure for honest sellers to publish honest listings; the responsibility for accuracy is yours.
2. Ownership and authority to sell
By publishing a listing you confirm that:
- You own the animal, or you have explicit written authority from the owner to offer it for sale on their behalf.
- The animal is not subject to a registry hold, breeder lien, or co-ownership arrangement that would prevent the sale.
- If sold on consignment, your arrangement with the owner is documented separately and the buyer can request to see proof of authority before paying.
3. Accurate listings
Listings must be truthful and current.
- Identity - the animal in the photos and on the page is the actual animal being sold.
- Registration - registry status, herd-book number, and breed-club references must be accurate. Do not imply registration that has not been completed.
- Age - the date of birth on the listing must match documented birth records.
- Sex and reproductive status - male, female, gelded, in-utero pregnancy state.
- Health - known issues (BVDV, persistent infections, congenital conditions, lameness, etc.) must be disclosed in the listing or by the time of buyer enquiry.
- Pedigree - sire and dam links must reflect documented lineage; do not invent or guess parents.
- Fibre data - micron, staple, fleece weight, and EPD figures must come from real lab work or documented breeding-association data, with the year of the test stated.
- Price - the listed price is the actual price you are willing to accept; no decoy pricing.
4. Animals you may not list
- Animals below the legal age for sale or transport in your jurisdiction.
- Animals showing signs of acute illness, lameness, or distress that have not been examined by a vet.
- Animals subject to a quarantine order or BVDV-positive isolation that has not been resolved.
- Wild-caught camelids or animals taken in violation of conservation rules.
- Animals you intend to ship in violation of EU welfare-in-transport rules.
5. Reservation and price honour
When the listing flag indicates 'reserved' the buyer relationship is private - but the listing remains a public commitment to the price you stated. Bait-and-switch (raising the price after a buyer commits) is prohibited under §3.li7.
6. Communication with buyers
The contact email you set on the listing is the one buyers will use. You must:
- Respond to genuine enquiries within a reasonable time - at least confirm receipt within seven calendar days.
- Be honest about availability and timing.
- Respect the buyer's privacy - do not pass their contact details to third parties without consent.
7. Removal and consequences
We may remove or restrict a listing - and where appropriate suspend your account - if we have credible reason to believe the listing breaches these terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law. We will tell you the reason at the time of action and accept a counter-notice via our notice-and-action procedure. Repeat or wilful violations may result in account termination and, where law requires it, a report to competent authorities (animal-welfare authorities, fraud investigators, registry organisations).
8. Reporting a listing
If you believe a listing breaches these terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law, please use our Report content procedure. Anyone - buyer, fellow breeder, registry organisation, or member of the public - can submit a report.
