Add AlpacaKeep to your phone

AlpacaKeep works in the phone's browser. You do not need to install anything from the App Store or Play Store. If you want it to open with one tap, add it to your home screen. It then looks and behaves like a normal app.

Steps#

iPhone (Safari)#

1. Open AlpacaKeep in Safari. Sign in as normal.
2. Tap the Share button. The square with the arrow pointing up, in the bottom toolbar.
3. Tap Add to Home Screen. Scroll the sheet if you do not see it. Confirm the name and tap Add.

The AlpacaKeep icon appears on your home screen. Tap it to open the app in full screen.

Android (Chrome)#

1. Open AlpacaKeep in Chrome. Sign in as normal.
2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right.
3. Tap Add to Home screen or Install app, then confirm.

The AlpacaKeep icon appears on your home screen or in your app drawer.

One laptop, many phones#

The easiest setup for a family or a team is: one person creates the farm on a laptop (bigger screen, easier to type), then invites the others. Everyone else signs in on their phone and adds AlpacaKeep to the home screen. You copy the invite link under Settings, then Team (see the Invite your team article below).

Good to know. It is the same account and the same data whether you open AlpacaKeep on a laptop, a tablet, or a phone. There is nothing to sync. Log a weight on your phone in the paddock and it is on the laptop when you get back to the kitchen.

Watch out. Adding it to your home screen does not download the data. If your phone loses signal in the barn, submit buttons pause until the connection comes back.
