AlpacaKeepThe first thing you do after signing up is create your farm. You give it a name and a Herd code, and AlpacaKeep sets up everything else for you.
During the private beta you need an invite code to create your farm. If you have one, the link you were sent fills it in for you. If you signed up without one, this screen asks for the code before the farm form. No code yet? Write to contact@alpacakeep.com and tell us about your herd.
Steps
- Sign up with your email and a password, or with your Google account. You then land on the Create your farm screen.
- Enter your farm name. This is the name you and your team will see across the app.
- Check your Herd code (optional, you can also set it later). AlpacaKeep suggests one from your farm name, and you can change it. This is a short code for your farm, usually 3 to 5 letters. Its upper-cased form (like "GVA") is the starting suggestion for the Name prefix that appears in the Registered name field of animals you breed here. Keep it short. You can change both later in Settings → Farm profile.
- Check the Currency. It is picked from your country. Change it if you work in another currency. If the form also asks for your Country or for you to accept the terms, fill those in too.
- Create farm. AlpacaKeep creates your farm and your plan, and drops you on the Dashboard.
What happens next
While AlpacaKeep is in beta, a new farm starts on the Pro plan at no cost. The regular starting plan is Free, which fits up to 10 animals and 2 people. See Your plan, the free trial, and what each tier unlocks.
AlpacaKeep also takes your time zone from your device and picks a date format for your country. You can change both in Settings → Farm profile. Your farm is empty to begin with, so the Dashboard shows a friendly welcome until you add your first animals.
Good to know. You only need to do this once. One person owns the farm. Later you can invite your team and give each person a role. See Invite your team.
